Waco, TX – Grace O’Heeron Injured in Hit & Run Pedestrian Accident on S 12th St

Waco, TX (December 15, 2019) On the morning of December 15th, an intoxicated driver tried to flee the scene of an accident she caused at the intersection of South 12th Street and La Salle Avenue. According to reports, a vehicle ran a red light and hit a 21-year-old woman as she was crossing the street. The accident happened at about 2:00 a.m.

When emergency responders arrived, they found the woman lying in the middle of the road and rushed her to Hillcrest Hospital for treatment of head trauma and multiple broken bones. She has been identified as Grace O’Heeron.

Although the driver fled the scene, authorities followed evidence that led them to 2900 Primrose and arrested the suspected driver. They charged her with Intoxication Assault and Failure to Stop and Render Aid Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

Our thoughts are with Grace O’Heeron and her family at this time. We wish her a complete recovery.

Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

Waco, TX – Grace O’Heeron Injured In Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Accident On S. 12th StStudies show that 20 percent of all pedestrian fatalities result from hit-and-run accidents. When drivers fail to stop and render aid after striking a pedestrian, the cause is often intoxication, recent criminal history, or fear of authorities. Drivers could also be in a stolen vehicle and realize the consequences they’re going to suffer if they’re caught. However, fleeing the scene and still getting caught worsens one’s consequences.
