Amarillo, TX (December 22, 2019) An early morning car accident happened on December 22nd. According to reports, a 2003 Nissan 350 Z was traveling on South I-27 when it lost control and rear-ended a police interceptor SUV. The impact of the crash caused the Nissan to hit a second police interceptor SUV, which then caused the SUV to hit a third police car. The accident happened at around 1:00 a.m. in the 3400 block of South I-27.
Emergency crews arrived and found the driver and passenger of the Nissan injured at the scene. The driver has been identified as 20-year-old Dylan Garza.
The Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department is currently investigating the accident. So far they believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors.
We wish Dylan Garza and the other 20-year-old injured victim a complete recovery. Our thoughts are with them and their families at this time.
Car Accidents in Texas
Speed has been proven to be the leading factor of most vehicle collisions throughout Texas. Unfortunately, when drivers are speeding after midnight, they tend to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Because drunk drivers have less control of their vehicles, they’re more inclined to cause serious accidents.
