Harris County, TX – Woman Killed In Hit-And-Run Accident On Eastex Fwy
Harris County, TX (December 22, 2019) On December 22nd, two vehicles collided on the Eastex Freeway feeder road at Little York. According to reports, a Mercedes was speeding on the freeway right before crashing into a Nissan. As a result, the Nissan was pushed several feet and the Mercedes ended up in a ditch as it caught on fire.
Emergency responders rushed to assist at the scene but the driver of the Mercedes was nowhere to be found. Surveillance footage shows the driver getting into another vehicle before emergency crews arrived. Unfortunately, the driver of the Nissan died at the scene.
This accident is still under investigation by authorities as they search for the driver responsible. They did run the Mercedes’ license plate and went to the owner’s house, but the owner was not there.
We send our condolences to the deceased woman’s family. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
Hit-and-Run Accidents in Texas
Hundreds of hit-and-run accidents happen every year in Texas, and most of them are caused by negligence. Drivers who flee the scene of an accident without rendering aid are usually under the influence, have a recent criminal history, lack car insurance, or they’re driving an unregistered or stolen vehicle. No matter the reason, it’s unacceptable for drivers to leave the scene of an accident without helping those involved.
