Wheeler County, TX – Peter Smith ID’d as Victim Killed in I-40 Crash
Wheeler County, TX (January 2, 2020) – A motor vehicle accident on Interstate 40 claimed one man’s life.
At approximately 12:15 p.m., on December 31, authorities were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 40.
Reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety indicate that 41-year-old Peter Smith was traveling along the roadway in a 2020 Freightliner when his vehicle collided with a 2014 Kenworth, which was driven by 48-year-old Alan Andrascik.
The impact of the collision caused the Freightliner to roll over onto its passenger side. The Kenworth rolled up onto its passenger side and slide into a ditch.
Smith incurred fatal injuries in the collision and was declared deceased at the scene. A passenger inside Smith’s vehicle, who was identified as 25-year-old Darrien Quagliata incurred serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock.
Andrascik sustained minor injuries and was transported to Shamrock General Hospital.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation with DPS.
