Harris County, TX – 1 Killed in Hit-And-Run Accident on Lauder Rd
Harris County, TX (January 5, 2020) A hit-and-run accident occurred on the evening of December 3rd. According to reports, two vehicles collided in the 4700 block of Lauder Road at about 8:00 p.m. A black Chevrolet Tahoe was exiting a supermarket when it crashed with a silver truck.
When the paramedics and other emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found the Tahoe in a ditch. The driver of the Tahoe ejected onto the road and died at the scene.
Although the driver of the silver truck fled the scene, the truck’s front bumper fell off. The accident is still under investigation but the police believe the driver of the silver truck may have been speeding.
We send our condolences to the family of the deceased driver. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
Hit-and-Run Accidents in Texas
According to recent studies, within a 10-year time span, nearly 700,000 hit-and-run accidents occurred every year throughout the country. Unfortunately, when hit-and-run accidents occur at night, drivers are usually under the influence, in stolen vehicles, in unregistered vehicles, or have just committed a crime and fear being caught by authorities. Drivers may also have an expired license at the time of the accident as well.
Regardless of the reasoning behind fleeing the scene of an accident, drivers should be held financially responsible for all damages and losses, especially if they were at fault. At The Benton Law Firm, we help families file wrongful death lawsuits against negligent drivers after losing loved ones in hit-and-run accidents. If you would like a free consultation with one of our experienced attorneys, call us today at (214) 219-4878.
