Denton, TX – Man Drowns in Lake on Chinn Road

Denton, TX (January 6, 2020) – An incident at a private lake on Chinn Road left one man deceased.

On December 30, a man and his 4-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter were on a fishing boat at a private lake on Chinn Road.

While fishing, the 4-year-old boy dropped his pole into the water. As he tried to recover the pole, he fell into the water. The boy’s 11-year-old sister attempted to grab him and ended up falling into the water as well.

The father noticed the two children in the water and attempted to grab them. Unfortunately, he fell into the water trying to catch them.

The two children were able to get back into the boat. Unfortunately, their father was trapped underwater for 2-to-3-minutes.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and tried to recover him from the water. The man was recovered and rushed to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the victim who lost his life in this accident. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
