68-Year-Old Oneida Guerra Killed by Vehicle in Pedestrian Crash in Starr County

Starr County, Texas (March 10,2020)- Oneida Guerra was struck and killed in Starr County on March 7, 2020. The accident occurred at about 1:25 p.m. on U.S. Highway 83 near Escobares. Investigators reported that the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck drove off the roadway and hit a Nissan Sentra that was exiting a driveway. The Chevrolet continued to travel until it hit a fence and two pedestrians. Guerra was one of the pedestrians struck by the pickup truck. Guerra was transported the hospital where she later died. The driver of the pickup truck was arrested and booked into Starr County jail on a manslaughter charge and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities believe that the driver was on the phone at the time of the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
