San Augustine, TX. (June 30, 2020)- Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on June 23, 2020 in San Augustine, Texas. The crash occurred just before noon, on U.S. Highway 96 near State Highway 147. DPS reported that the driver of an 18-wheeler was traveling northbound when they drove off the roadway to the right and then overcorrected back to the left. The 18-wheeler then crossed into the southbound lane and crashed head-on into a 1992 Ford-600 truck driven by Stripling. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to overturn. The driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin with unknown injuries. Stripling was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital in an unknown condition. The crash remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with Marcellus Stripling and his family at this time. We hope for his full recovery.
