59-Year-Old Thomas Ellston Killed in 18-Wheeler Crash on U.S. Highway 287 in Stratford

Stratford, TX. (July 8, 2020)- Thomas Ellston was killed in a three-vehicle crash on June 29, 2020 in Stratford, Texas. The crash occurred just before 11:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 287. DPS reported that the driver of a 2012 Kenworth 18-wheeler was traveling northwest on the highway when they attempted to pass a 2007 Volvo 18-wheeler. The diver of the Kenworth 18-wheeler failed to pass safely and struck a 2005 Harley Davidson driven by Ellston. The impact caused the motorcycle to spin around and hit the Volvo 18-wheeler. Ellston was pronounced dead at the scene. The two 18-wheeler drivers were uninjured in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
