60-Year-Old Rusty Lee Edwards Killed in 18-Wheeler Crash on U.S. Highway 77 near Refugio

Refugio, TX. (September 24, 2020)- Rusty Lee Edwards was killed in a two-vehicle crash on September 16, 2020 near Refugio, Texas. The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 77 just north of Woodsboro, Texas. DPS reported that an 18-wheeler was traveling northbound on the highway while a 2007 Ford F-150 was traveling southbound. The 18-wheeler was driving at an unsafe speed for the wet conditions when it hydroplaned across the median and into the driver’s side of the Ford. Edwards, the driver of the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
