James and Bonnie Wimberly Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 155 in Frankston
Frankston, TX. (April 28, 2021)- 84-year-old James and 84-year-old Bonnie Wimberly were killed in a two-vehicle crash on April 25, 2021 in Frankston, Texas. The accident occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. on State Highway 155. DPS reported that James was driving a 2015 Toyota Highlander northbound while a 2020 Kia Sorento was also traveling northbound on the highway. The driver of the Kia drove over a small slope, failed to control speed and rear-ended the Highlander. The force of the impact caused the Highlander to veer across southbound lanes into a ditch where it crashed head-on into several trees. The Kia veered of the roadway where it struck a culvert and a sign. James and Bonnie were pronounced dead at the scene. The Kia driver was transported to UT Health Tyler with serious injuries. No further details have been provided at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of James and Bonnie Wimberly. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
