AMARILLO, TX – A man sustained fatal injuries Friday night in a head-on collision in southwest Amarillo, reports News Channel 10.

 

The accident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Soncy Road and Legend Avenue, which is just southwest of Sleepy Hollow Elementary School.

 

Police say that the driver of a southbound 2022 Ram 2500 was intoxicated he swerved into the northbound lane and struck a northbound 2019 Ford Escape head-on.

 

The driver of the Ford, identified as 35-year-old Clebson Roberto Hillario Da Silva, died at the scene.

 

Medics transported both an adult and two-year-old child from the Ford to an area hospital with serious injuries. 

 

Authorities arrested the wrong-way driver, identified as 29-year-old Carlos Coronado, on charges that include intoxication manslaughter.

 

A full investigation is underway.
