LUBBOCK, TX – A man died Saturday night in a two-vehicle accident along the highway in far-south Lubbock, reports Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
The crash happened at the intersection of US-87 and County Road 7150, which is just south of the Southgate neighborhood.
Police say that a northbound 2017 Dodge Durango collided with a westbound 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche when the driver of the latter vehicle neglected to heed a stop sign.
The driver of the Chevy, identified as 36-year-old Fabian Vitolas, died at the scene of the wreck.
Medics transported the driver of the Dodge to an area hospital with minor injuries. A passenger from the Dodge when to the hospital with serious injuries.
It’s unclear if the driver of the Chevy was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Authorities say that both occupants of the Dodge were properly restrained.
A full investigation is underway.
