HIDALGO CO., TX – A 14-year-old girl sustained fatal injuries last Wednesday in a two-vehicle wreck in south-central Hidalgo County.
According to ValleyCentral, the accident happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. just north of the intersection of 6 Mile Road and FM 492. This is just northwest of Mission.
Police say that a northbound Chevy Camaro entered the southbound side of FM 492 while attempting to pass other vehicles. The Chevy then collided with a Toyota Sequoia that was crossing FM 492 towards Fiesta Drive.
The impact of the crash ejected a teen passenger from the back of the Toyota. The teen, identified as Ashley Monserrat Pano Fuentes, died at the scene of the accident.
Medics transported the driver of the Toyota, two additional passengers, the driver of the Camaro, and a passenger from the Camaro to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
