LAS CRUCES, NM – A 61-year-old cyclist died Tuesday when a vehicle struck him on his bike in central Lac Cruces, reports KTSM 9.
The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. in the area of north Alameda Boulevard and Harvard Drive. This is about 46 miles northwest of El Paso.
Police say that a northbound gray SUV struck the victim from behind in the northbound bike lane of Alameda Boulevard.
The cyclist, identified as Lorenzo Espinoza, died after transport to an area hospital.
The driver of the SUV did stop to render aid and speak with authorities. No charges have been announced thus far.
The investigation is ongoing.
