Semi-truck strikes, kills 1 on LBJ Fwy at Jupiter in Garland
GARLAND, TX – A 35-year-old woman died, and a man sustained critical injuries when a semi-truck struck them along the freeway in Garland on Friday morning, reports 5 NBCDFW.
The incident happened after 1:30 a.m. on the LBJ Freeway at Jupiter Road, which is just north of the Buick dealership.
The investigation indicates that the victims had parked their vehicles along the freeway and were helping with a rollover crash when an 18-wheeler jackknifed and crashed into them.
Police identified the victim as Maria Trinidad Ortiz Gonzalez. They have not yet named the 52-year-old man who went to the hospital.
Medics also transported the truck driver and the driver of the overturned vehicle to the hospital. They were released a short time later.
A full investigation is underway.
