2-vehicle crash on Hwy 64 near Tyler kills child, hurts 3 others
TYLER, TX – A two-vehicle collision along the highway just west of Tyler in western Smith County killed a 7-year-old child on Sunday night, reports the Tyler Morning Telegraph.
The accident happened around 7:15 p.m. on Highway 64 just west of Tyler. Authorities have not yet provided a cross street.
The investigation thus far indicates that the driver of a westbound vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way while attempting to turn left from Highway 64 onto a cross street. An eastbound vehicle struck the first car, killing a child in the backseat.
The driver of the westbound vehicle, identified as 18-year-old Sharya Snow, went to the hospital with unspecified injuries, as did a 12-year-old passenger in her vehicle.
The other driver, identified as 25-year-old Nathaniel Jimenez, sustained non-critical injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
