1 killed, 1 injured in multi-vehicle collision in Granbury
GRANBURY, TX – A 43-year-old woman died, and another woman went to the hospital after three vehicles collided in early March at an intersection in central Hood County, reports Hood County News.
The incident happened around 5:42 p.m. at the intersection of Northeast Loop 567 and Stockton Bend Road, which is just north of the Granbury Police Department.
The investigation indicates that a northbound 2005 Acura sedan rear-ended a 2020 Hyundai Elantra as the latter vehicle slowed to turn left from Northeast Loop 567 onto Stockton Bend Road. The collision forced the Hyundai into the path of a southbound 2019 Kia Soul, and the two vehicles collided.
The driver of the Hyundai died at the scene of the crash. Authorities identified her as Shawn Lorraine Mitchell.
Medics transported the driver of the Kia to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
