Amtrak versus vehicle crash on E 5th near FM 156 in Justin kills 1

JUSTIN, TX – One person died Thursday evening in a collision involving an Amtrak train and a passenger vehicle at a Justin train crossing, reports DFW Scanner.

The incident happened around 6:06 p.m. at the train crossing on East 5th Street near FM 156, which is northwest of Classy Cactus Antique Mall.

A witness at the scene told police that the driver of the vehicle attempted to cross the tracks after the crossing arms had descended, at which point the train struck the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.

The train was carrying 54 people at the time of the accident. None of them sustained injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
