Carlos Alvarez-Cabrera, Freddy Pineda Fatally Struck in Auto-Pedestrian Crash on U.S. 287 near Childress
Childress, TX. (December 6, 2021)- 25-year-old Carlos Alvarez-Cabrera and 20-year-old Freddy Pineda were killed in an auto-pedestrian crash on November 28, 2021, near Childress, Texas. The accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on U.S. 287, six miles east of Childress. DPS reported that Alvarez-Cabrera, Pineda and two others were standing on the shoulder outside their pickup truck. A northbound 18-wheeler then drove onto the shoulder and struck the two victims. The 18-wheeler continued to travel into a nearby ditch and rolled over. Alvarez-Cabrera and Pineda were pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation.
