Head-on crash along US-287 near Hubbard St kills 2, injures 5

ALVORD, TX – A wrong-way crash along the highway in north-central Wise County killed two people and injured five others last Saturday night, reports NBC DFW 5.

The accident happened just before 9:20 p.m. on US-287 near Hubbard Street, which is on the south side of Alvord. This is about 50 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

Police say that a northbound 2016 Hyundai Accent carrying four people collided head-on with a southbound 2020 Toyota Camry carrying three people.

Two people in the Hyundai, identified as 58-year-old Phillip Jacob Pennartz and 54-year-old Tina Marie Pennartz, died in the accident.

Medics airlifted one adult and a child from the Hyundai to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries. Three adults from the Toyota also went to area hospitals via air ambulance.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Officials say the driver of the Hyundai appeared to have lost control of the vehicle prior to entering the southbound lane of traffic.
