Head-on crash at TX-56 and FM 3212 near Windom kills 5, injures 2

FANNIN CO., TX – A wrong-way collision along a highway in east-central Fannin County killed five people and critically injured two others last Tuesday, reports WFAA News 8.

The incident happened just before 11:30 a.m. on TX-56, or Sam Rayburn Drive, near FM 3212. This is between Dodd City and Windom.

Police say that an eastbound 2006 Honda Civic entered the westbound side of the highway and crashed head-on into a westbound 2024 GMC Sierra C2500.

The five occupants of the sedan died at the scene. Authorities have identified them as Jose Urbina, 23; Rosa Trochez-Montenegro, 26; Nestor Gonzalez-Valerio, 57; Oneyda Zamora, 28; and Ernestina Castillo-Alfaro, 30.

Medics transported two men from the pickup truck to an area hospital with serious injuries.

A fully investigation is underway to determine what may have caused the drive of the Honda to enter the wrong side of TX-56.
