High school student struck, killed on US-271 near Mount Pleasant
TITUS CO., TX – A high school student was struck and killed last Wednesday on the highway just north of Mount Pleasant, reports KLTV 7.
The accident happened around 9 p.m. on US-271 just north of Mount Pleasant. This is about 120 miles east of Dallas.
Police say the victim was rollerblading against traffic on the northbound side of the highway when a northbound vehicle hit him.
The rollerblader died after transport to an area hospital. Authorities say he was a student at Mt. Vernon High School.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident did stop to render aid and speak with police.
A full investigation is underway.
