Lewisville street race on I-35E SB leads teen driver’s death
LEWISVILLE, TX – A 17-year-old driver died early last month when he lost control of his car during a street race on the interstate frontage road, reports The Cross Timbers Gazette.
The incident happened just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 4th on the southbound side of the frontage road for I-35E near FM 407 and just west of Lake Park.
Police say the driver was speeding when he lost control of his car, at which point he struck a light pole and crashed into a ditch.
The driver died at the scene of the crash.
The investigation indicates that the teen driver was participating in an illegal street race at the time of the collision.
No charges have been announced so far. The investigation continues.
