Man critically injured when vehicle runs him down near Zaragoza Rd in El Paso
EL PASO, TX – A 23-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries early last week when a driver intentionally struck him in an east El Paso parking lot, reports KFOX 14.
The accident happened around 2:15 a.m. on Monday, September 30th, near North Zaragoza Road and Don Haskins Drive, which is in the Stone Ridge area.
Police say that an altercation first occurred between two groups of friends, after which time 32-year-old Rene Martinez hit Juan Flores Jr. with his car before leaving the scene.
Medics transported Flores Jr. to an area hospital with critical injuries. According to an update from the safe source, the collision caused damage to the victim’s spinal cord, leaving him “brain dead.” Flores Jr. is not expected to survive.
Authorities located and arrested Martinez on a charge of aggravated assault.
