Maria Martinez, 40, fatally injured in Galveston wrong-way crash

GALVESTON, TX – A woman died, and four other people sustained injuries last Monday in a wrong-way collision along a busy Galveston roadway, reports Fox 26 Houston.

The accident happened shortly before 6 p.m. on Harborside Drive at 29th Street. This is just west of the Galveston Railroad Museum and south of the Port of Galveston Police Department.

Police say that a westbound vehicle entered the eastbound side of Harborside Drive and crashed head-on into an eastbound vehicle carrying two adults and three children.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, identified as 40-year-old Maria Martinez, died at the scene.

Medics transported the victim’s husband and three children to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Galveston Police arrested the wrong-way driver, since identified as 34-year-old Alexis Cisneros, on charges that include intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.

A full investigation is underway.
