Multi-vehicle crash involving semi kills 2, hurts 1 in Royse City

ROYSE CITY, TX – Two people died, and three people went to the hospital after a collision in northeastern Rockwall County on Monday morning, reports NBC DFW 5.

The incident happened around 8:27 a.m. on I-30 near FM35, which is just north of Royse City High School.

The investigation thus far indicates that a westbound 18-wheeler crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with three cars, one of which caught fire. Two occupants from that car died from injuries sustained in the accident.

Authorities have not yet identified the victims, nor have they disclosed the extent to which the other three people were injured.

A full investigation is underway to determine what might have caused the truck driver to veer into the wrong lane.
