Solo crash on Loop 12 near Mountain Creek Lake kills 18-year-old
DALLAS, TX – A teen driver died late Sunday night in a single-vehicle rollover crash with ejection along Loop 12 in southwest Dallas, reports WFAA News 8.
The incident happened just before midnight on the southbound side of Loop 12 at the split with Highway 408. This is just west of Dallas College Mountain View Campus and east of Mountain Creek Lake.
The investigation indicates that 18-year-old Caleb Dylan Estrada lost control of his vehicle and crashed into both a median and a guardrail. The force of the collision caused his vehicle to overturn, at which point Estrada was ejected.
The driver died after transport to a local hospital.
Medics also attended to a passenger, whom they said did not sustain significant injuries. It is unclear if the passenger required hospitalization.
Officials closed Loop 12 in the area of the crash for several hours while crews investigated and worked to clear the wreckage.
The investigation is ongoing.
