Teen and 2 horses die after struck by car at TX-12 and I-45

DALLAS, TX – Police have released new information regarding a Tuesday morning accident involving a vehicle and three horseback riders in Dallas.

CNN reports that the incident involved three teenagers and three stolen horses. A vehicle struck the horseback riders, killing a 14-year-old and two of the horses.

The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. in the area of South Great Trinity Forest Way and I-45.

Police say that the 14-year-old rider died at the scene of the accident. Two other riders, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, went to the hospital in stable condition.

Additionally, one of the horses died at the scene, and a second was put down after sustaining serious injuries. The third horse will likely recover from its injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident. At this time, they do not expect to bring charges against the driver of the vehicle.
