Alleged DUI crash on I-30 service road at S Belt Line kills passenger
GRAND PRAIRIE, TX – A 25-year-old man died Sunday in a solo crash allegedly caused by a drunken driver in Grand Prairie, reports Aol.
The incident happened around 1:40 a.m. on the westbound service road for I-30 at South Belt Line Road. This is just south of Lone Star Park and Grand Prairie Stadium.
Police say the 19-year-old driver of a Chevy pickup truck lost control of the vehicle while making a U-turn. The pickup left the roadway and hit a tree.
Medics transported both the driver and passenger to the hospital. The passenger, identified as Jose Alexandro Alvarez, died at the scene of the accident.
Authorities plan to charge the driver, identified as Armando Tovar Jr, with intoxication manslaughter.
The investigation is ongoing.
