Head-on collision at I-820 and Marine Creek Pkwy kills 5
FORT WORTH, TX – Three adults and two children died Sunday in a wrong-way crash along the interstate in northwest Fort Worth, reports NBC DFW 5.
The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. on I-820 at Marine Creek Parkway, which is just southeast of Tarrant County College – Northwest Campus and east of Marine Creek Lake.
Police say that for unknown reasons and eastbound Ford Focus carrying two adults and two children entered the westbound side of the interstate and collided head-on with a westbound pickup truck carrying two adults. The impact of the crash caused the Ford Focus to ignite.
All four people in the sedan died at the scene of the wreck, as did a woman from the pickup truck.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.
Medics transported a man from the pickup truck to an area hospital with broken bones. It’s unclear if he sustained additional injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
