Jaime Ruiz, 67, claimed in wrong-way crash on TX-199
AZLE, TX – An elderly man died Saturday in a wrong-way collision along the highway in northeast Parker County, reports WFAA News 8.
The accident happened at night along TX-199 near Commerce Street in the city of Azle. This is about 17 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
Authorities say that for unknown reasons, the driver of an eastbound Ford F-250 carrying four people entered the westbound side of TX-199 and crashed head-on into a westbound Toyota Tacoma with three occupants.
The westbound driver, identified as 67-year-old Jaime Ruiz, died at the scene after being entrapped in his pickup truck.
A passenger in the Tacoma sustained minor injuries. It’s unclear if they required hospitalization.
The wrong-way driver did stop to render aid and talk to police. It’s unclear if they will face charges.
A full investigation is underway.
