Pedestrian struck, injured on Loop 323 EB near Red Raider in Tyler

TYLER, TX – A pedestrian sustained critical injuries on Wednesday evening when a vehicle struck them as they attempted to cross Loop 323 in Tyler, reports CBS 19.

The incident happened around 6:45 p.m. on the eastbound side of Loop 323 between South Broadway Avenue and Red Raider Drive. This is just north of the French Quarter Shopping Center.

The investigation indicates that the pedestrian was crossing Loop 323 outside of a designated crosswalk when an eastbound vehicle struck them. The pedestrian was crossing just south of First Christian Church and headed towards the shopping center.

Medics transported the pedestrian to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stopped to render aid and speak with authorities.

Officials closed the eastbound lanes of Loop 323 while crews worked to clear the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
