Wrong-way crash on TX-121 near CR 4165 in Fannin Co. kills 5
FANNIN CO., TX – A fiery crash involving a sedan and an SUV in southwest Fannin County killed five people Monday evening, reports KSLA 12.
The incident occurred north of Randolph just before 6 p.m. on TX-121 near County Road 4165. This is about 76 miles northeast of Dallas.
Police say that a southbound 2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT carrying four people collided head-on with a northbound 2016 Hyundai Tucson carrying two people when the former vehicle attempted to pass in a no-passing zone.
The crash impact caused both vehicles to ignite, fatally injuring three people in the sedan and two people in the SUV.
Authorities identified the victims from the SUV as 20-year-old Danielha Rodriguez and 64-year-old Maria del Carmen Santiz-Lopez.
The victims from the sports car have been identified as 30-year-old Chiranjeevi Sivaa Rajaneni, 30-year-old Gopi Thirumuru, and 27-year-old Haritha Reddy Degapui.
Medics airlifted a fourth person from the sedan to an area hospital with critical injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
